Lost Wax Carving+Casting with Courtney Gray
Saturday + Sunday, February 11-12, 10am-5pm
Create your own 3 dimensional pieces in silver using the ancient process known as lost wax casting. Experienced jewelry artist and casting technician, Courtney Gray, will teach this essential technique of the jewelry trade. In this 2 day workshop you will design, layout and carve a 3D pendant in wax and then mold and cast your model in silver or bronze using a centrifugal casting system. Discuss ring making and working with different types of wax. Learn essential finishing techniques through sanding and polishing your cast pieces. Learn the skills to create pendants, brooches, earrings and more! Discuss mold making, and how to get your pieces mass produced for wholesale and retail market. ★ No Experience Necessary!
FYI: We do not carve rings in this class because it is a more intensive process and requires more accuracy, a higher skill set and much more time.
