Basic Hand Forging in Steel
March 2,4,9,12,15 (Tues. and Thurs) 7-9pm
Learn how to heat, hammer, bend, twist and taper steel, in a professional blacksmith studio. Using an anvil, a forge, a hammer and other traditional blacksmithing tools, learn the basics of hand forging and how to make several different types of ornamental components like scrolls, pea vines and twists. Also learn essential joinery techniques like riveting and collaring. Work one on one with Colby Brinkman, accomplished blacksmith and discover the limitless creation possibilities in steel. If you are ready to discover how metal works in its rawest form and learn how to manipulate metal to make beautiful objects this is the perfect beginning class for you.
