Instructor: Vasken Tanielian
Vasken Tanielian may be a Master Jeweler trained in some of the finest traditions of the
European Masters, but today he’s also known for the skills carrying jewelers into the future. It’s
almost as if Vasken is the point where the history of design meets the future of the industry.
He was the last apprentice of the Setrakian brothers in Paris, France, learning not only the trade
secrets of beautiful Edwardian and Art Deco design, but also the precision skills and technique
practiced for centuries within famed jeweler’s guilds. Vasken is an expert in many techniques of
jewelry fabrication including casting, design, rendering, wax and platinum work. His jewelry has
been showcased through lines and celebrity clients.
Today, he also transforms those classical skills into a modern electronic design with 3D Modeling.
He is widely regarded as one of the top instructors in the nation in 3Design Software, CAD
(computer aided design) and CAM (computer aided manufacturing).
With more than 35 years experience in jewelry design, fabrication and education, Vasken is
known for his endless patience, attention to detail and wit that quickly puts students at ease. He
was a senior instructor at Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco for 13 years before
moving to Austin to open Jewelry Studies International.
A teacher at major conferences for the jewelry industry in the United States, Vasken is fluent in
five languages, including English, French and Armenian.
