Chasing and Repoussé with Il Maestro Acquafresca is more than a technical course about Chasing and Repoussé.  With Il Maestro's unmatched skill in the classical Italian art and technique of "cisello", it is more truly an experience of understanding a technique that has formed part of the artistic dynasty and lifework of the Acquafresca family, dating back to the Renaissance in Florence.  With this background, Il Maestro teaches with a passion, sharing his unique knowledge and the accumulated experience of generations of artists and craftsmen in his family.

Il Maestro Acquafresca is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and skill with each student at every level, from those with no experience to the most advanced students. Over the course of two days, Il Maestro will give students a basic understanding of chasing and repousse. Day one will focus on the repousse aspect of attaching copper into pitch and creating a form from the backside of the work. Day two will allow students to chase details into the front.

This class will show students how to truly move metal through the force of steel and hammering. It will set them up for success in Fabrizio's following class Snarling Techniques, where students will create a chalice or goblet with some of the techniques present in this class- however working in three-dimensional form.

Tool Kits:

Copper (24g) will be included in your kit fee. You are also welcome to bring your own metal if you want to work in sterling silver. Remember, this is a beginner and intro class where students should be walking away with technique and foundation more than a masterpiece.

There will be a set of tools for each student's use for the duration of the course. These are part of the kit fee price for shipping them in from Italy.  After the workshop, the tools (Fabrizio's hand crafted punches, tar block, and chasing hammer) are available for purchase for an additional $500.00 USD.
