We move through our lives by celestial navigation, a constant intuitive assessment of our relationship with the world. The stars that help me steer are the things that I do — I teach, I write, and I hammer things out of metal. These activities, or more accurately, these parts of a single activity, are the focus of my curiosity and the source of my satisfaction.
