"The class was absolutely wonderful! Agnes was very sweet and helpful." - Mary, Simple Ring Making with Agnes
Feeling stumped in your design process? Find your voice and zoom into a collection of work that compliments or goes beyond your usual aesthetic. Feel like you can’t draw, not to worry. This is not about sketching or drawing, it is about tricks and tips to design your work and map out your approach to fabrication using a 3 dimensional approach.
In this class you will develop a design or collection starting with a simple geometric shape, and with the help of exercises work through new and intriguing forms in paper. Learn key words to trigger your design process and talk about abstract expression you want to put into your design (Contrast, surprise, serenity,…)
You will transform your ideas from paper to metal using the metalsmithing skills you know, plus learn some tips and tricks to effectively convey your design and add more volume to pieces through textures, forming, sawing and rolling mill. Ultimately you will begin a captivating piece to jump start a new collection.
Bring your sketchbook, playful heart, and an open mind to class and leave with some important design techniques for your tool box.
***This one day class is designed to focus on this specific technique only. No finished work will be made.
