My work is a consequence of vivid introspection. It takes a metaphysical approach to exploring characteristics that are uniquely human. Through the use of symbols and material it questions fundamental realities that are ingrained in our macro and microcosm. By alluding to elements of time, space, light, gravity, equilibrium, ritual and memory, each piece explores new facets of personal philosophies. The work is grounded in scientific concepts – like the complexities of the quantum world, the catalytic laws of thermodynamics – in order to reflect the reciprocal relationship of.
The practice of body adornment is inherent in our primitive history by reflecting anthropological culture, status and identity. Because it allows me to explore this facet of self-awareness and ritual, my recent work is meant to serve as a portal mirroring an ethereal mind-space that the piece is originally created in. By surrendering to the different processes and materials, it allows for an intimate experience producing these individual forms of talismans.
